From your base in the vibrant harbour village of Seahouses, you'll explore some of the most spectacular coastal landmarks in the region. Wander the peaceful Holy Island of Lindisfarne, cut off from the mainland twice a day by the sea and steeped in spiritual significance. Visit Lindisfarne Priory, admire the tidal causeway, and enjoy the atmospheric beauty of this remote place where St Cuthbert once lived.
In Bamburgh, marvel at one of Britain’s most imposing castles, perched dramatically above an award-winning beach. Recognised as the UK’s best seaside town by Which! for five years running, Bamburgh also offers independent shops, cosy cafés, and the popular Grace Darling Museum.
Enjoy the picturesque fishing village of Craster, famed for its smoked kippers, and take the coastal path to the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle – an easy and incredibly scenic walk with views that will stay with you long after your holiday ends. The castle itself is an English Heritage property, and although entry isn’t included, the approach is a real highlight. English Heritage members may wish to bring their membership cards.
Step aboard a wildlife cruise to the Farne Islands with a well-respected local boat operator. This unforgettable trip lets you spot grey seals, puffins, seabirds and, if you’re lucky, orcas – recently seen off the coast in June 2025, showing how rich the area is in marine life.
You’ll also enjoy the sweeping sands and gentle charm of Beadnell Bay, perfect for a relaxing afternoon.
Every morning, enjoy a hearty breakfast at the Bamburgh Castle Inn. In the evenings, explore Seahouses at your leisure, with its harbourside pubs, arcades, fresh seafood and some of the best fish and chips around. Whether you want a coastal stroll, a game of crazy golf, or a drink by the water, Seahouses is a lovely place to unwind.
Travelling by coach is a relaxed and sociable way to see the world – a great way to meet new friends, should you wish to do so.
Day 1 – Journey to Northumberland. Sit back and relax as we journey by coach to Seahouses, arriving in the evening. Enjoy your first night at leisure and settle into your charming coastal surroundings.
Day 2 – Holy Island (Lindisfarne). Visit the beautiful tidal island of Lindisfarne, including time to explore the priory ruins and quaint village. We’ll return to Seahouses via the scenic coastal route through Bamburgh.
Note: Lindisfarne Priory is an English Heritage property and entry is not included. Members should bring their cards. Lindisfarne Castle is a National Trust property – also not included.
Day 3 – Bamburgh & Farne Islands Cruise. Spend the morning and lunchtime exploring Bamburgh, with time to visit the castle, beach, shops or Grace Darling Museum. Later, enjoy a memorable wildlife cruise around the Farne Islands with a well-respected local boat operator.
Day 4 – Craster, Dunstanburgh & Beadnell Bay. This morning we visit Craster famed for its oak-smoked kippers and dramatic coastal views. From here, guests have the option to enjoy the scenic walk to Dunstanburgh Castle. Later, enjoy some free time in Beadnell before heading back to Seahouses for your final evening – whether that’s a nice meal, a harbour stroll, some penny machines or just watching the sun go down.
Day 5 – Return Journey via Amble. After a leisurely breakfast, we begin our return journey south with a stop in the charming harbour town of Amble.
You’ll stay for four nights at the welcoming Bamburgh Castle Inn in the harbour village of Seahouses — perfectly located for exploring the spectacular Northumberland coast.
All rooms are en-suite, with a mix of standard twin/double rooms and budget doubles for single occupancy. The hotel includes a hearty breakfast each morning in the restaurant overlooking the harbour.
Dinner isn’t included, giving you the flexibility to dine your way. You can choose to add an optional dinner food allowance of £120 per person (per stay), to be spent as you wish in the hotel’s bar or restaurant. Alternatively, enjoy the great selection of pubs, restaurants and famous fish and chip shops just a short walk from the hotel.
Room upgrades to sea view rooms are available from £160 per room per stay, subject to availability.
